i have a thing for... SCHUESSSSSS

okay... shoes again. hehe... i am don't usually wear heels, but then i find a lot of us bought heels unconsciously and thought that one day, one day we will find the right occasion to wear them. (they always feel more comfy in the store) i was told by someone who has a friend that treat shoes as collectables. for centuries shoes have been haunting us and i think this 'curse' will go on... forever and ever.

sometimes i would do something silly like... just clicking on ASOS for shoes that i like, putting them into the shopping cart and pretend that i have bought them. let me show you what's in my shopping cart at the moment:

maybe one day, one day i will lose control and click on the 'buy' button!!!

recently i saw a slogan from a french shoe brand called 'chocolate schubar', it says:

cool huh? they have nice mary janes and ballerinas too... and i just realised they have a shop near my home, definitely gonna pay them a visit.

so dear husbands, please don't count the pairs of shoes we own and criticize us no more!!!

i have a thing for... SURFING PLASTICS

a dear friend's birthday's coming up soon... time to shop for pressies. i always think choosing a good present for someone is in a way a form of art, depending on the occasion, personality of the receiver, season, weather, mood, people at the event, pets...........etc. it requires a lot of observation, intuition, patience and creativity. so basically it is a GIFT to be able to pick the right GIFT. period. lol

this special friend of mine has special taste - anything that can be bright not shiny, not too girly but can have a touch of cuteness, something cool but not too masculine. once i got her a bracelet but i am sure she has never worn it as it was too girly... well that was one failure but after that i sort of captured what she likes.

i went on a trip with her earlier this year and knew that she likes collecting watches. i started looking at some of these brightly coloured attractive watches and think i should give them a show here:

the surfing contrasty brights are great when you are going for an outdoor look once in a while, even not a sporty girl as myself i can't stop checking out on them. the minimal and cheerful interface designs made them more than just a functional piece.

i have a thing for... IMAGINE THAT

where has all our imagination gone???

i eventually had time to sit down and watch a movie on HBO. lately i was so occupied by dinners; family dinners, birthday dinners, friends gathering dinners, more time was spent outside then at home. yet i find it very exhausting and i miss the quiet times i had with my cats and husband, so even if it was quite late already we chose to sit on the couch together and stare at the tv.

this movie, Imagine that, was not a big Hollywood production, in fact the story itself is sort of predictable and very kiddy. it's about a divorced man trying so hard to pursue his financial career, his daughter has always been neglected by him, and it happens she is the key to his success when he finds out her magical imagination leads him to find directions (literally) for his client accounts' investments.

i once was told i cannot be a designer. i couldn't deny at that moment - all the admin stuff, emailing, company policies and office politics murdered my creative cells, i almost couldn't find myself... i became a boring, nervous and serious person. just like the dad in this movie, i was blocked inside this room without windows.

until i left my job i chose to work with children... it was such a change. when i thought i could teach them something with my design degree, it was them who reminded me how to be happy, to be cheeky... to make mistakes and enjoy the process of making them. they showed me how precious IMAGINATION is. here's a quote from my friend, 'we always remember what is urgent and forget what is important'.  i was such a workaholic that i forgot about my health, family and friends, i almost have given up the most important part of my life, the things that are the most beautiful, which has always been my source of imagination.

from time to time i would ask myself if i would regret my choice of leaving my previous career path. however the answer is always as clear as crystal. i will still pick the tv and couch option :)

i have a thing for... WINTER

i am in love with this zara parka jacket at the moment... it is fake fur-lined so that you can wear a bikini inside and don't feel a thing in the cold weather. tempted.........................

heard that temperature is FINALLY dropping this coming thursday, like the most of you i am so thrilled and virtually going through my own winter wardrobe (in my brain). the point is not about if the clothes will be warm enough, it will be if the colours are right or if there are enough pieces to do layering.

aren't we too lucky already???

i have a thing for... DUST

A lot of friends recently have decided that they had enough of their horrible bosses, or cannot stand the office politics anymore. so another door opened - they have started their own business. it is quite a risk to take, without the sharp sense of what the end customer needs and a designer's eye, it must be very hard to survive in this land of retail war.

in Hong Kong, the fashion accessory market is always in demand... especially leather goods. picky people like myself are always looking for something that is in good quality, fair price and fashionable, something that goes with everything but also has a touch of edginess in it.

you know that feeling when you have discovered the dream dress/bag/shoes/belt/necklace which you have been looking for so long... i once longed for a vintage satchel style leather bag, i have tried so hard to look everywhere but they were either too rough, or the leather colour is not right (and pricey), or it's not even real leather. when i came to Dust, which is a newly started business founded by my designer friends, i was so overwhelmed. i now owned a few bags of their brand and carrying one of them everyday. it REALLY GOES WITH EVERYTHING.

most of all, i am a big supporter not just for their products, but also the courage they have to put their dream into action, wanting to make a difference in their design career. it is certainly not easy, but they did it.
